Why Pawprint

Born of a need, carried by volunteers.

The association was created to answer a growing demand: animal rescue in the rural areas of South-West France, where cat colonies multiply and where shelters are few and far between.

We work hand in hand with local councils to manage stray cat populations, we run sterilisation campaigns, and our foster families socialise and care for every rescued animal until it is adopted.

About the association

Our commitment

Four promises, from rescue to forever home.

01

Rescue

Immediate help for animals in distress.

We take in strays, abandoned pets and animals suffering from neglect, and make sure they receive the care and attention they deserve. Our busiest times: kitten season, from April to September, then late autumn.

02

Care

Healing bodies and hearts.

Every rescued animal is examined by a partner vet, treated, then supported through a rehabilitation suited to its species. This work is costly, and adoption fees only cover part of it.

03

Adoption

A home for life.

Applicants fill in a form on Patte-forme and sign the certificate of commitment, required by French law, seven days before adopting. We review every application and visit the home so that the match is the right one.

04

Community

Working together.

Fundraising, foster families, volunteer teams, town halls, gendarmerie and vets: a whole local network comes together to help animals in need, and often people along the way.

Frequently asked

Found an animal? A box of kittens? Here is what to do.

The right reflexes, the useful numbers and what the law says, in English and in French.

The full FAQ
I found a stray animal. What should I do?

If it is injured or in danger, contact a vet, the gendarmerie or the fire brigade (18). If it is microchipped, the owner will be contacted. If not, call us before it goes to the pound: a foster home is far less distressing.

I found a box of kittens

In a garden, the mother has often gone to find food: watch without disturbing them. Dumped somewhere dangerous, collect them and message us immediately. Keep them warm, and never feed a cold kitten.

The steps that save lives
Can I sterilise the stray cats in my area?

Yes: French law makes town halls responsible for stray cats, and favours trap, neuter and return. We can help you set up a campaign in your commune.
